New money for a new year: Zumo 2021 Q1 update
by Amelie Arras April 2021

With Bitcoin, Ether and alt-coins surging to new all-time highs, new investors are flocking to the market to join the gold rush.

It’s a great time to be in crypto. With Bitcoin, Ether and alt-coins surging to new all-time highs, new investors are flocking to the market to join the gold rush. Needless to say, it’s been all systems go at Zumo as we cement our place at the centre of an industry that’s set to keep changing the world for a long time to come. Here’s what has been going on at Zumo HQ in the first quarter of 2021.

Zumo Card Set for Liftoff

The Zumo Virtual Card is a new way to spend and save crypto.  With the Virtual Card, users can seamlessly convert their Bitcoin and Ether in the app before making online purchases at any company that accepts Visa. You can find out more by reading our latest blog updates.

Currently available for UK-based app users, the Zumo Virtual card has gone down a storm with our community, which has grown by 167% since December. Although we always anticipated rapid growth, it’s pleasing to see so many people get on board with Zumo and join our voyage into the future of finance.

To date, Zumo users have traded over £11 million, with an average transaction value of £2,500. All of which bodes well ahead of our forthcoming Series A funding round, which we expect to close in June.

Oh, and when the Series A is out of the way, there’ll be another crowdfunding opportunity for the community. Get involved!

New Era, New CTO

Earlier this year we had the pleasure of naming Tim Šabanov as our new Chief Technology Officer. As a fast-growing, community-driven fintech startup, Zumo’s success hinges on the passion and excellence of our staff.

The CTO role is absolutely critical to Zumo. So we’re delighted to promote Tim, who previously served as a Lead Technical Architect. Tim has a wealth of leadership experience and blockchain expertise. His vision and wisdom will be vital as we continue our upward trajectory.

Zumo Is Trending

In February, the Zumo app broke into the Top 5 finance apps on both Google Play and the Apple App Store. We now have more than 50,000 users and are looking forward to welcoming many more in the coming months and years.

In the news

Our Chief Executive Officer Nick Jones sat down with Emma Gannon last month to record an episode of Ctrl Alt Delete, her award-winning careers podcast. Ctrl Alt Delete has racked up over 8 million downloads and released over 320 episodes, so it was a great opportunity to answer some questions about crypto and blockchain, discuss the origins of Zumo and talk about the future of money. You can listen to the podcast here.
